1:32 pm - This may take years to complete.
sloper Well, I can see this community has not been active in a long time, but hopefully by posting I can remind others to do the same. Basically I'm just nosy and would rather see other peoples' to-do lists than revisit my own, but I guess a little give-and-take won't hurt.

My unfinished knitting projects:

  • Eyelet pullover for myself: finish the front & remaining sleeve
  • Sunburst pullover for husband: still on first piece, but moving quickly.
  • Mohair pullover with little cilia-like I-cord bits: finish a bunch more I-cord bits so I can progress past that part & feel like I'm making some progress.
  • Find notes on green legwarmer pattern I made up so I can start second one.
  • Make a mate to the Wool-ease cabled legwarmer
  • Rip out the Reniassance Tunic because the cables make me look 20 lbs. heavier than usual, plus there are a ton of mistakes in it that are driving me crazy.
  • Red acrylic cardigan I found that I started ages ago: decide if it's worth finishing.
  • Red recycled wool sweater: decide if this is too itchy to finish knitting.
  • Finish socks from handspun
  • Finish pink wool sock, knit another one, then dye a color I will actually wear? maybe.
  • Green/purple variegated pullover: swatch some increases & decreases in seed stitch to see what, if anything, works. Think about possibility of having to use another yarn for ribbing at neckline & cuffs due to running out of yarn.

12:03 am - how i spent my summer vacation...

i've been working on things this summer, since i'm not in school OR working... sighhhh. but i'm also without child, so that makes for lots of time on my hands. i've made a ton of dollie furniture for my beanie kids to pose for photo shoots... i made them a living room suite and a bedroom suite, and i have the foam core board to make them a bathroom for a shower scene. done so much of all that that i'm a little burned out, so i'm taking a break from dollie mania.

lets' see... what else have i done... i've made two new coolio purses with a fast and easy pattern from simplicity...i've painted an elephant bank for my special treat savings account... two blouses... i have my quilt top and wall hanging and shams all cut and the quilt halfway pieced. hmmmm...

i think that's about it. for some dang reason it seemed like a lot more.

i want to start on christmas and halloween things soon, too. AND dragoncon is in like 6 weeks! chad sez we can stay at the site hotel this year!! yay!! (jane... if you'd like to bring "anybody" and share the room, that would rock!! let me know if you're interested?)

so that's it for now, i guess. :D

12:21 pm - listy-madness

greetings and salutations.

i have issues getting too many things on my plate and then never finishing any of them, even though they're all about 90% done.

so, in no particular order:

* finish stripping, and then restain (ebony) apothecary cabinet
* stain tchotchke boxen for studio
* build teashelf like bloodlossgirl's for kitchen, and then stain/paint said tea shelf.
* lay out wall hangings

* frame wolfie's motherboard (find fancy frame first)
* find fancy frames for photo wall so i can put up family photos.
* actually frame and put them up

* finish current jewelry projects, and get them out at the museum shop and savoir faire
* look into other consignment possibilities
* sell backstock of kittyhats

* relaunch pointykitty.net with new content and images
* relaunch alyska.net with new layout

* make jeffreyp a window for his basement office (mount a large picture behind a paned window so he can pretend he has a view).

* work on film and photography projects.

* ...and finish the many other things i know i've forgotten.

12:08 pm - well,

I've got a TON of stuffs I'm working on. Most of which I need to finish by the end of the year. So, I think I'll just make a list for now.

* The Rail Fences Quilt. - It's half pieced and needs some serious time spent to get it layered and ready for quilting
* The Wall Windows, of course. - I've got the frames and the glass, I just need to make a shadowbox bit for the back and fill it in with lights and goodies.
* my summer wardrobe that seems to be for next year, now. - hopefully I can get a piece or two done so I can at least wear a bit of the things I have planned.
* 2 Dolls for various gifts - 1 rag doll and 1 art doll
* the teas I want to hold need much work and planning - now that things have calmed down a bit, I think that they might come to pass
* My Abomination of a website - nuff said
* Planning for NaNoWriMo this year.
* Decorating my house and planning for co-existing with a new roomie. - I've got lots of ideas, but no roomie et to discuss with.

So, for the moment those are my big projects. :) I'll add to it as I go along. For now, I'm off to pay rent and have lunch with alyska. yay!

10:50 pm - muchness of inspitation...

we went to dragoncon yesterday and today. there was so much nifty things, craft-wise there... it made my creative juices drippy... i wish i had the time and the moral inclination to actually do some of the niftiness. i'm going to write them all down in my new craftiness journal (yay) when the con is over and then mull over the many options and ideas within it and THEN decide upon a project (other than my quilt top) and actually do it. (i think i can, i think i can, i think i can... therefore i can?)

there were horns for the heads of the hornless, and elven ears for those who are not of that particular species... velvet bustiers and weskits, many lace up thingamagiggies with boobs popping out from within like there were going to be no tomorrow to show off the bodaciousness.

the ultimate wrongness: someone bought some of those little pine boxes from walmart, the 97cent kind, and painted them without and within and charged TEN BUCKS for them!!! i'm not kidding. made me nauseous..

there were millions of little firedragons upon shoulders, and many a walking stick with curious and interesting thingies on their tops. there were game lords and game lackeys everywhere... and the leather masks were majorly kick-ass!!!

there were also s&m thinginess... paddles with cute little holes bored into them, and leather lashes for the spankiness of things.. :D

anywho, i had major ideas there to ponder upon... when i have more to tell, i will. wish me luck!!

9:41 pm - Window update

Well, it's taking forever, but I think I might be finally progressing on my Wall Window project. My room is rather dark. I have two windows side by side on a wall that faces the house next door, so I don't get a lot of light in. This is what I've decided to do about it.

I've talked to My Brother the Carpenter, and he has agreed to assist me in building four nine paned window frames. It shouldn't be that hard, and I'll post the techniques I end up with when they come to fruition.

The plan is to take these new windows and add small lights from Radio Shack or wherever and backlight each individual pane of glass. I'm hoping to find a way to use rice paper or something of the sort to diffuse the light and then make each pane a different season or time of day and give each window a different theme. I've started sketching out the themes and building idea fodder for materials. I think what I end up using will depend on how the lights turn out.

I'm also thinking that a one pane prototype would be a good idea. Something not glued to tightly together so I can run a few ideas through it before I start on the big ones.

Eventually, when I finally get the dang things done, I want to put two side by side on each wall sharing a corner with the wall that has the real windows. I might also make a few mirrors and mini knick-knack shelves to go between and above them, but I haven't decided yet.

yup, this is turning into the project of the decade, but it's gonna be ::so:: cool when I finally figure it out! yay!

-- yes, I am obsessed with the dang windows. I promise there will be more (and different) project ideas later. :)

5:03 am - some ideas to work from... mostly for the hanging windows

Window Table
Bas-Relief Bookshelf
Canvas Wall Art
Window-Frame Mirror

Radio Shack looks like they'd have something of the sort light-wise that I could use. I'm going to my local one for that, as opposed to online. and the Art Mart downtown looks like they might have the paper supplies and frame. now, if I can find an actual, in shape, old single pane window supplier.... But I guess that's what the wonderful world of auctions and estate sales is for. :)

And on a completely lustful note, these would be nice... ::sigh::
Honey Comb Yellow Calcite
Stone Set #2 (Intermediate)
Forest Green Soapstone

2:48 am - Windows for my walls.

Alright. I've got this decorating idea. I want to make windows for my walls. I'm thinking of using an idea I saw on the do-it-yourself network about a year ago, for a table made out of an old paned window and mix it with another idea from christopher lowell for a small mirror made out of an old window.

I'm thinking of buying a newish to older window, or making a framework myself, and backing it with a thin board. I'm wondering if I could find some way of lighting each frame from above with supplies from Radio Shack and using some sort of translucent paper to make a scene for each pane. this way, I can make a battery powered light up window for my wall, with a scene in it, possibly seasonal, that I can change out at will.

Obviously, I'm still in free flight idea mode, even though I've been thinking of this for about a year now. I'm thinking I might actually have some time and money to do this in January. At least the prototype. I'll get to see if it works and if it's worth making any more of them and streamlining the process.

Anywhoo... that's my idea for now. I'll post more when I've got the process worked out a little more coherently.

4:57 am - Projects that I'm working on...

here's my list of projects:

* making tables out of old windows. Preferrably ones with lots of panes, so I can cover it with glass and arrange curiosities in the spaces between.

* desktop and webpage backgrounds (currently hosted here)

* the website referenced above, itself. (BIG project)

* Designing my wardrobe and getting together lists of materials and patterns and notions and such to take with me when I go shopping.

* Decorating my room and what part of the house I can get away with.

* Writing down my major dreams and working them into my Dreams writing project. Working on sketches for drawings and layouts, graphic wise.

* Plan and arrange home shrine for the next few seasons. work on aquiring a few new additions and pretty seasonal cloths.

* get addresses for Yule greetings and send cards.

* work on getting my lj dream journal active. Keep a more consistant dream record.

hmm... that's all I can think of for now.

12:33 am - Simplifications

I want to simplify my life. I want to be able to pay my bills and live without the pain of worry and frustration.

I don't se it happening anytime soon and I suppose I've learned to deal with this over my years, but that doesn't make it any happier to think about.

I get my worst creative block when I am not organized in my outer self or clear in my innerself. I need my calm to be able to produce anything.

so, the things I do to get ready to start a project are:
* clean my room and start on my laundry.
-- the laundry schedule gives me some time blocks to work in. I need a bit of structure and that seems to fit the bill for me.
* straighten up and clear off a table or other flat surface.
* open the windows and let fresh air and light in.
* light a few candles or tea lights and a stick of vanilla/sandalwood incense.
* decide if I'm going to use a notebook or keyboard and get that stuff together.

* write a list of ideas and thoughts on them.
* go back over pervious ideas and refine them.
* make some tea.
* change out the washer and dryer.
* do whatever comes to me at the time.

I find that a set day usually spoils things and doesn't feel spontaneous enough, but if I promise myself to have some "metime" every other to third day, I'll find the time to fit it in.

Sunny days are better than cloudy ones and snow is better than rain.

word association and dreams have given me my greatest incentives to create. I think starting a Dream Journal was one of the best things I've ever done.
